Thaddeus Lewis of Duke over Christian Ponder is an absolute JOKE!
Only one Offensive Lineman from FSU is a JOKE!
I am happy for Watson and Robinson but no defensive player from FSU deserved to be all conference. Sorry but its true.

CJ Spiller 2nd team RB is a joke. He is the best player in the ACC this year. You have got to be kidding me.

How BRAIN DEAD do you have to be to have one ALL ACC Offensive player from the top ACC Offense and two ALL ACC Defensive players from the worst defense in the conference.

No wounder the ACC isn't up to par with the SEC. The ACC has a bunch of BUFFOONS in it.

Bowden Update!

Update:

Legendary Florida State Football Coach Bobby Bowden will announce retirement tomorrow with a press release not a press conference.

Jimbo Fisher will be announced the new Head Coach later in the week. He is wrapping up some recruiting.

This should be the end of almost the entire Defensive coaching staff as well. I expect that Odell Hagans may be the only one left.

Old News

Bowden met with University President T.K Wetherell and Athletic Director Randy Spetman today. From the sounds of it he was given two choices:

1. Retire
2. Stay on at Florida State as an Ambassador to the University.

Both do not have him as the Head Coach at FSU.

There will be a press conference tomorrow which should officially end the Bowden Era at FSU.

From all indications this has been in the work since the loss to USF.

Some Junior College Help

Just updating some recruiting news. I am not sure when this occurred but previous commitment DT Anthony McCloud 6'3" 295lbs and RB Debrale Smiley 6'0" 235lbs will join the Seminoles in January. Help at the DL is a must and a true fullback will be nice.

The Bowden Saga!

Should he stay or should he go? I have the up most respect for Coach Bowden but mediocrity is unacceptable at any level of business and college football is a business first and foremost. If you want business to pick up you must win.

Change must happen NOW!

Inexcusable reasons:

1. Losing to USF
2. Losing 6 straight years to Florida
3. Doak is a Joke. The vaunted Home field is pathetic
4. Poor Attendance. Your customers have had enough
5. Not aware of the situation anymore

The FSU Forever End of Year Awards

The 2009 regular season is one most Seminole fans would like to forget, but there are some fine young men who despite a lackluster year have performed at a high level. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge these fine young men.

The "Peter Warrick" Award goes to the best freshman of the Year. This player had to quickly adjust to college life and excel on the field. I am proud to announce that the "Peter Warrick" Award goes to:

Greg Reid

The "Derrick Brooks" Award goes to the best sophomore of the year. This player truly stepped up his game this year and became a solid foundation and consistent weapon all year. I am proud to announce that the "Derrick Brooks" Award goes to:

Bert Reed

The "Marvin Jones" Award goes to the teams best Junior. This player is as tough as they come at any position and vastly improved his skills this year. It is an honor to announce that this years winner of the "Marvin Jones" Award is:

Christian Ponder

The "Warrick Dunn" Award goes to the best Senior. This player lead by example all year and continued to make big plays. I am proud to announce that this years winner of the "Warrick Dunn" Award is:

Rod "Old School" Owens

The "Sebastian Janikowski" Award goes to the best Special Teams player of the year. This player was electric and whenever he touched the ball good things happened. I am honored in announcing that this years winner of the "Sebastian Janikowski" Award is:

Greg Reid

The "Bobby Bowden" Award goes to the best coach of the year. A very difficult choice but this coach turned a unit around that had been consistently in trouble and made them one of the major strengths of the team. It is a privilege to give this years "Bobby Bowden" Award to:

Coach Lawrence Dawsey

The "Puntrooskie" Award goes to the Play of the Year. This years play of the year came when the Noles needed it most. Down to North Carolina in the second half Safety Jamie Robinson intercepted North Carolina at the 2 yard line the rest is Seminoles History. The "Puntrooskie" Award goes to

Christian Ponder and Rod Owens for the 98 Yard Touchdown that followed Mr. Robinson's interception at North Carolina.

The "Mickey Andrews" Award goes to the Best Defensive player on the Team. While the defense was not spectacular this year this player started to come into his own and play consistently. He is certainly far from his potential but he truly deserves this award. Without further delay I am proud to announce that this years winner of the "Mickey Andrews' Award is:

Nigel Bradham

The "Chris Weinke" Award goes to the Best Offensive player on the team. This player stepped up his game this year and became a semifinalist for the "Maxwell Award" and will be in consideration for the "Heisman Award" starting next year. This Years "Chris Weinke" Award goes to:

Christian Ponder

The "Charlie Ward" Award goes to the most valuable player of the year. Without the true will to win and desire to compete this team would not have made it to another Bowl Game and keep the nations longest bowl streak alive. He set the tone for the entire team and the entire team's character showed in grit and determination. The "Charlie Ward" Award goes to:

Christian Ponder

The last award for the year is the "Deion Sanders" Award for the absolute Best Player on the team. This is different than a MVP. This is for the best football player on the team period. This player is recognized by his peers and works harder to get better everyday. He is determined to be the very best and plays clean but mean. A true Seminole in every sense of the word. This player never takes a play off and wants to punish his opponent every play. It is a true honor in presenting the "Deion Sanders" Award to:

Rodney Hudson

Regular Season is Over!

The regular season ended as it has the past five seasons, another loss to the Gators. 2009 will go down as one of the worst if not the worst in the Bowden era.

The Good: The Offense has come back and looked like a conference Champion and National Championship caliber unit. The Offensive line is as good as any in College Football and there are many quality skill players that can make plays.

The Bad: Once again the Seminoles will not have a 1000 yard rusher this year. The roving running back doghouse left questions all year long to the consistency at that position.

The Ugly: By far the worst containment and tackling defense that I have ever witnessed at FSU. Running backs kept breaking tackles when Noles would hit them in the back field and corners were just awful with open field tackles. Linebackers loved to stay blocked and not fill the gaps, and Safeties liked picking their nose while receivers continually gashed FSU with 60 yard pass plays.

FSU @ UF Prediction

I think FSU will surprise the nation a little on Saturday. Florida is favored by 21 points but I don't think they will cover the spread but I do think Florida wins in Tebow's last game at the "Swamp". I will be there live and in person to see a hard working, never say die Seminole team play with pride and determination.

FSU 24 UF 31

A Good Sign!

FSU got a Commitment from *** DB Greg Dent. He is from Glades Central and he is 6'0" (thank god we are offering a DB that is 6 foot) and 176lbs. His forty time is 4.5.

What I like most about this is:

1. UF Corner Janoris Jenkins came from this same mold and he really wanted to be a Nole, but the Noles didn't offer.

2. The biggest miss for FSU of all time, Wake Forest CB Alphonso Smith also came from this same mold.

The mold I speak of is the DBs that excelled in the Muck Bowl but FSU ignored. Not this time. Great job FSU getting a ball hawk DB that is known for wrapping up and making tackles.

This is an excellent recruit for FSU and its about time we get quality Florida talent once again.

Getting Some Help

6'5" 295Lb DT from Pearl River Community College looks like he will be a committment to the Noles. He has not done so officially but from all indications he will. FSU is his only scheduled official visit and he knows he will see immediate playing time.

Keep it going Noles. Lets get guys that will wrap up and make a tackle when they hit Running Backs. More big boddies please and feed em raw meat.....LOL

Warchant.com has the complete details.

ITS GATOR WEEK!

All I here in College Football is that the best rivalry is Michigan and Ohio State, or Texas and Oklahoma, possibly USC and Notre Dame, and throw in Alabama and Auburn for good measure.

I snicker when I hear these are the best rivalries in College Football.

No question the Best Rivalry in all of College Football is the Gators and the Noles with the second best being the Noles and Canes. No question about it. While FSU isn't having a FSU type Season they gave the country one of the best games of the year on Labor Day night against the Canes and you can take that 21 point spread and shove it up you ass. The Noles are coming to the Swamp to do some hunting. The Noles have nothing to lose and this is there National Championship. Buckle up your shin strap Gators because the Noles are coming to play and will never ever give up. The Gators 60 minutes of Hell begins on Saturday and ends with the Noles carrying the Gator Head around the Swamp. I will be there and I will remember the greatness forever. With all do respect Mr. Tebow, it's time you get sent out in style.

The Greatest!

The term "greatest" gets tossed around like loose change by the sports media all the time. I myself do not like to throw it around because it is so difficult to judge between eras and what we have seen most recently. On a day I will never forget because the greatest Defensive coordinator ever to blow a whistle, scowl at a player, and put fear into every opposing QB walked off the field a winner. Fitting his defense forced Maryland to punt after EJ Manuel's third interception and fitting his defense was on the field as time expired. To the greatest Defensive Coordinator in all of college football history I say "Thanks Mickey".

Mickey Andrews coached 46 Associated Press All-Americans.

Mickey Andrews won the inaugural Frank Broyles Award for the nations top assistant coach.

Mickey Andrews was American Football Coach's Magazine Defensive Coordinator of the year in 1998.

Mickey Andrews was the Athlon National Assistant Coach of the year in 1991.

Mickey Andrews coached the top ranked total defense and passing defense in 1998 and coached the Nations top rushing defense in 1996 and 1997.

Mickey Andrews coached two Jim Thorpe Award winners, two Butkis Award winners, and 2 Lombardi Award winners.

Mickey Andrews has left Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Cambell Stadium.

Florida State makes it 28 consecutive years of Bowl Eligibility. In a sub par season the players never quit and kept a streak alive when everything was on the line.

EJ Manuel just threw his third interception and the defense was allowing Maryland to drive at will and score. Not this time. The defense made the stop which forced Maryland to punt to the electrifying Greg Reid and he worked his magic giving FSU great field position with a little over a minute to go.

Manuel then took over with his legs running for 15 yards and 20 yards on consecutive plays. He then hit Easterling on the 3 yard line which was followed by the second TD of the game for Lonnie Pryor with approximately 30 seconds left in the game. The defense held Maryland at the end of the game on their desperate flea-flicking attempt to get a TD.

So what now? Will it be a beating at the Swamp? Will the Gators toy with the Noles and embarrass Seminole Nation once again? Honestly that is probably true, but I know one thing, these players will not quit and they never give up and when you have that type of attitude miracles can happen.

Sad News

Steve Ellis of the Tallahassee Democrat has passed away at age 54. A sincere tragedy.

In honor of Mr. Ellis I am picking the Noles to beat Maryland 38 to 21.

God Bless Steve Ellis and his family.

If I Were a 5 Star Recruit (Facilities)

I am doing some research on the Football Facilities of the Colleges that I may attend for my College Football career. Once I have researched them all I will rank them according to the facilities. I will then move to another topic and rank them that way to help show logic to my final choice.

Florida

http://www.gatorzone.com/facilities/?venue=gateway_gallery&sport=footb&dir=weightroom

Alabama

http://www.rolltide.com/facilities/moore-athletic-facility.html

Florida State

http://www.seminoles.com/facilities/360virtualtours.html

Miami

Taking into account the complexity of finding this information via the Universities Official Web Page and then the detail given once found I Rank the Facilities of the schools I am looking at as follows:

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Florida State
4. LSU
5. USC
6. Notre Dame
7. Tennessee
8. Georgia Tech
9. Miami
10. Clemson

Total Team Effort!!!

The best win of the year. Considering the circumstances of losing the best QB in the ACC for the season, a Defense that has been horrible, and senior day at Wake Forest this is slightly better than the BYU win.

EJ Manuel was better than I expected. He made great throws and decisions. His only mistake of the game was the INT right before the half. The best thing about him was that I never seen him get to excited after the scoring drives and he didn't seem too down on himself after that INT. He is cool as a cucumber. Jimbo Fisher is the man for his preparations this week.

The Offensive Line was incredible. They were all extraordinary and the game ball goes to every lineman who played. GREAT JOB! Hope Rodney Hudson is OK! He walked off on his own as he was mad as all get out.

The running game was sensational. Thomas was the work horse and Jones contributed as well. Thomas has looked like what what FSU fans were hoping for from the start these last three games. No fumbles. I love that.

Now for the most pleasant surprise of all..........DEFENSE, DEFENSE, and more DEFENSE. Maybe it was the "Thanks Mickey" T-Shirt I was wearing that a good friend got me on Friday. Whatever it was, it was great. The defense wasn't perfect by any stretch but linebackers made plays and corners made plays. FSU forced Wake Forest to Punt numerous times and were flying to the ball the best I have seen all year.

Greg Reid had a great punt return for a TD and the Kicker is getting better as the year goes on.

I have a special thanks to Mr. Fortson. His hit on the DB who intercepted Manuel before the end of the half negated any momentum that Wake may have gotten. My wife thought I was going to crash into the T.V. I got so amped up over it. Remember he was the WR who stripped that NCST D-Lineman after he intercepted too.

One of my favorite quotes this year has come from Jon Gruden during the Monday Night Football Game between Green Bay and Minnesota. Adrian Peterson was coming around the end and Al Harris made a nice open field tackle on him. Gruden was talking about how Harris "just had to make a business decision" on making that play. Well.......Every FSU player made a "Business Decision" against Wake Forest and business may be picking up.

While this certainly isn't the best FSU Team and actually could be considered one of the worst in the Bowden era, I have to admit that the grit, determination , and never die attitude this team shows every week is very encouraging. Hats Off to the Noles.

Wake Forest Prediction

Hmmmmm......do I really see FSU pulling off the upset this week at Wake Forest? The easy answer is NO! Here is what is going to happen. The offense is going to run more due to the Ponder injury. We will see all four RBs get touches. Manuel will show good signs of what is coming in 2011 and I am very excited he is getting playing time. I am not happy its because Ponder is injured but this is very good for Manuel and his development. The offense will be moderately successfull running which will keep Wake's offense off the field which will keep the game closer. Where FSU will hurt most is probably in the third down conversions with a young QB and this is why FSU will lose to Wake Forest. FSU will have to punt more than they would like too and the defense will not be able to keep up.

FSU 24 Wake Forest 31

If I Were a 5 Star Recruit (Part 1 Cont.)

Part 2 of this hypothetical recruitment of me as a 5 Star 6'5" and 310Lb Defensive Tackle will really be when I narrow My choices to my top 5 schools by the end of the regular season. Until that time I am going to cover issues both good and bad for every school in my top 10 to show you my logic in dropping them or keeping them.

Yesterday there was some bad news for Tennessee.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4647094

Three football players were arrested for attempted armed robbery.

How does this effect me wanting to go play football at Tennessee? Well, I know I am not a troublemaker. My parents saw to that so you won't catch me doing stupid things that could jeopardize my goal of being a NFL player and getting my college degree. My parents will probably be more concerned about this than I am so it does play a factor.

Bottom line is that this is not good. It is not a show stopper, but I need to be on my best game when they are talking to me. My parents will have serious questions for them when they meet the coaches. Right now Tennessee moves to the bottom. If I were to give an up dated order it would probably look like this:

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Florida State
4. LSU
5. Miami
6. Georgia Tech
7. Clemson
8. USC
9. Notre Dame
10. Tennessee

If I Were a 5 Star Recruit (Part 1)

For the purpose of this I will be a 6'5" 310lb DT from Titusville Florida. I have a 3.2 GPA and I have a SAT score of 1020. I can probably go any where in the country so in this part I am going to narrow down schools to 10 that I am strongly considering. I am really going to try my best in not being biased to FSU but for the purpose of this I will be a fan of FSU growing up.

My ultimate goal is to reach the NFL, but I am smart enough to know that to do anything beyond the NFL you must have a college degree. Staying close to home is a plus but not a show stopper. I do not want to be "bull Shitted" by recruiters. I need the truth in order to make the best choice for my future. If I find out a school is lying to me they will be immediately off my list. I get phone calls and texts all the time, but it is time to narrow down my 10 schools before my senior year begins.

Florida: I must consider the Gators. Urban Meyer seems to care for his players, runs one of the best programs in the country. Reaching the NFL is good from UF and a degree from UF is very good.

Miami: Once again I must consider the Canes. Used to be a factory for NFL Talent and Randy Shannon seems to be getting back to business there. A degree from Miami is also good.

Florida State: I have to consider them. They are my childhood team and another factory for NFL players. A degree from FSU is good and recently Myron Rolle won a Rhodes Scholarship. Uncertain future in the defensive staff is a HUGE concern for me. Honesty is going to be a huge factor. If FSU is going to play games then I will be very disappointed and will never go there.

Alabama: Nick Saban will coach me up to be a NFL player. Alabama has a good name and a degree from there is very good. The program rivals Florida in the SEC.

Notre Dame: The richest tradition in all of College Football. Notre Dame players traditionally go to the NFL and a degree from ND is very good.

USC: The current NFL Factory. Conference titles are standard and there is always a chance to play for a National Title. Degree from USC is very good.

Clemson: Great College atmosphere and a solid program. Players have gone to the NFL and a degree would be good from there.

Tennessee: Traditional quality program. Monte Kiffin is the DC and has coached many years in the NFL. Lane Kiffin is young and energetic. They are getting better every week. Another solid name school so a degree from there would be very good.

LSU: NFL factory lately. Solid program, contends for SEC Titles, and another close big name school that a degree from LSU would carry some weight.

Georgia Tech: Since Paul Johnson has arrived they have been competitive for ACC Titles. Tech is a great degree to have after Football. Chance to go pro is good playing in a big conference.

Notable omissions:

Georgia: Not feeling it with the others I have selected from the SEC.

Virginia Tech: Great Program and school but if I am going to stay in the ACC I want to be a little closer to home.

Stanford: Fantastic education but not an NFL Factory.

Texas: Defense is not a strong suit of the Big 12.

Oklahoma: See Texas

Ohio State: Similar to Notre Dame, but if I am going to leave Florida and my family Ohio State loses to Notre Dame by a small margins there.

Michigan: See Ohio State.

Penn State: See Michigan and Ohio State.

Again I am not trying to be biased. All the schools that didn't make my top 10 were mostly due to distance from home and my comfort level with the schools in the south. The couple of schools that I did consider outside the south are USC and Notre Dame for reason I explained.

So my "Official" Top 10 Schools in no particular order are:

Florida
Miami (Fl)
Florida State
Alabama
Notre Dame
USC
Tennessee
LSU
Clemson
Geargia Tech

I will announce my final decision on the real National Signing Day. I will conduct research and explain my decisions to drop schools off my list. I will be down to 5 schools by the end of the college regular season. I am hoping this will be a fun blog.

Is Florida State Still Relivant?

The answer is absolutely YES.

Ponder's status of being out for the season was front page news on ESPN for a while.

Clemson fans stormed the field after beating FSU. Sorry but you don't do that against a sub 500 football team, but it is still FSU.

North Carolina brought out all the stops against FSU on that Thursday Night, why cuz it is Florida State.

This should be Bobby Bowden's final 3 games as Head Coach and the Jimbo Fisher era will begin and the right changes will come about on the Coaching Staff.

At least Manuel get experience during this season. I think he will be good, but a little raw and this is a perfect time to get him experience since the season is over from an ACC Championship perspective....well that was weeks ago honestly...but all the same.

As much as I admire Ponder's toughness.........HE MUST NOT PUT HIMSELF IN THAT DANGER NEXT YEAR. HE MUST SLIDE. He told ESPN he is "Likely" to return for his senior season.

Out For The Count

Playing for a winning State playoff team in High School, losing was unacceptable. We as players believed in that mentality and sacrificed for each other to win. There was never a "me first" moment by any player. We did not win the State Championship but we gave every ounce of effort and sacrifice we had and none of us were ashamed of what we accomplished. I bring this up because Florida State had higher standards than that. Excellence was demanded from every part of the team. My High School Football Coach in Maryland used to refer to Florida State and Miami all the time as who to emulate and we would watch Florida State and Miami dominate and have fun. We always wanted to play like Florida State. Well, I doubt that they are the examples of what to play like now.

What has happened to Florida State who is now 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the ACC? I have no idea really. I am not around the team everyday and I really couldn't tell you first hand what is truly going on. I have an educated guess on why however.

Recruiting: I have to admit we are not getting chump but look at other teams in the area who have stepped up their game in recruiting: LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. These teams are consistently at the top and playing for National Championships. Note Georgia isn't really but they have been better than FSU these past 8 years.

Inconsistent Leadership: Bowden saying Jimbo will select the next Defensive Coordinator to the next day saying he will have the final say. If FSU is this wishy washy from one day to the next how can there be consistency at the other levels of the team?

I have watched every game live or on TV and these guys do not quit, but the Defensive exploits have been well documented this year. Florida State will lose to Wake Forest again and will not make a bowl game this year. Losing to Wake Forest is flippin ridiculous and it frankly pisses me off that Wake Forest is a better program than FSU, but it is.

To get out of this mess that Florida State is in will take every once of hard work and determination from every player, Coach and Staff has and then a little more, and then a little more, and then a little more.

The State of Florida State

Fact 1:

FSU is 4-4 and 2-3 in conference

Rumor: Coaches fighting and arguing with each other. The name that most consistently comes up as the biggest detriment to coaching cohesiveness is Chuck Amato. Leadership and stability comes from the top down and we wonder why the players are inconsistent it’s because their leadership is inconsistent.

Fact 2: FSU has 4 coaches on staff with “Head Coach” in their title.
Bobby Bowden: Head Coach Mickey Andrews: Defensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach
Chuck Amato: Linebackers Coach, Executive Head Coach
Rick Trickett: Offensive Line, Assistant Head Coach

Rumor: These titles were put in place so these coaches could justify their pay raises, but when Bowden was out with the Shingles this summer the power struggle began and where Coach Amato began dividing the team.

Fact 3: Mickey Andrews whom I hold in the highest regards will be retiring after this season. He has said this so I am calling it a fact, knowing people can change their minds.

Rumor: Jimbo Fisher will be making the hires for any new coach and that a finalized Head Coaching contract is in work and will be in place by the end of the season. Who the candidates are and who will actually be the new coaches will be a different topic at a different time.

The most important decision for FSU is what to do with Bobby Bowden. I make no apologies that I think Coach Bowden is the greatest and what he has done at FSU are things that even today’s powerhouse programs can’t even touch. I think Coach Bowden cuts himself short. Let’s say he isn’t at FSU next year and that the Jimbo Fisher era begins. I would think ESPN would jump at the chance to have Coach Bowden on College Game Day. He is very charismatic and has a great clean sense of humor. He is one of the great ambassadors of College Football. He will have a job if he wants one, which by all indications he does because he has a fear of death. His father and mentor Bear Bryant both died soon after retiring.

So if I were the President of FSU I would let Coach Bowden go and let the Fisher era begin. I would also help Coach Bowden get a great job either at FSU or somewhere in College Football. I would give him the 1 million from the guarantee in his Contract but I would try to get him an additional 3 million from boosters as a reward for his great service. I think this is the best Win-Win scenario.

In watching the Noles against North Carolina and North Carolina State I have to admit that the team never gives up including the defensive players. What I sadly have to admit is I witness a defense so bad it almost cant be that bad on purpose. The defensive ends never keep containment. Linebackers always look like they don't know what they are reading and never make a play in the backfield unless they are lined up at defensive end. The secondary is so bad my slow fat ass could be back there and do just as well. The Rover position is a joke.

There will be changes in the defensive coaching staff, but will that help? To some degree I think it will help but its more than coaching. What does FSU have against 6'1" Corners who run 4.4 40 yard dashes? Must be something because FSU likes 5'10" and 4.6 40 yard dashes.

Where is #13 play making? He is supposed to be Derrick Brooks and he consistently makes tackles after the RBs get 5 yards down field already.

I have a suggestion and its based solely on performance and plays that have been made. Get those non-containing DE off the field and permanently put Watson and Alexander there.

I wish the defense was 1/2 as mad as I am when I watch them run around clueless and consistently suck.

On a special note. As I visit all my usual FSU Apparel stores I constantly see 9 racks to 1 in favor of GATOR CRAP, and there are normally more Alabama, Texas, and Notre Dame clothing now than there is FSU. WTF is this. I live in FLORIDA why do I have a better chance at buying Texas than FSU. Well my good friend its simple.......FSU isnt good anymore. They are average. Even though FSU beat NCST at home........the crowd was a JOKE just like the DOAK anymore.
