Too Little Too Late?

This recruiting class for Florida State is shaping up to be a very good class. What I find funny is the utter dissapointment fans get when their favorite school doesn't land the recruits they think they should have. Florida State even in its glory days didn't get every recruit they wanted. There has never been a school that got the "top" 25 recruits in the country so every school misses out.

Last Saturday Rick Trickett, the OL coach for Florida State offered 3 Star OG Ronald Patrick of Cocoa High School which has won back to back State Championships for their class in Florida. Prior to Saturday the following schools have offered Ronald Patrick a football scholarship:

ECU
Midd Tenn State
New Mexico
Western Kentucky

Not exactly the cream of the crop of College football. Then a big program offers in South Carolina and he verbally commits to the Gamecocks on June 21st 2009 according to Rivals. I have to admit I would have done the same thing at this point, wouldn't you?

So the year goes on and as recruiting gets more heated up Florida State finally offers the kid 3 weeks before National Signing Day. I am glad FSU did it. In my head at least I know the new coaching staff can spot talent. I watched Cocoa play Astronaut live and I walked away knowing Ronal Patrick was the best player on the field and FSU Commitment Darius Cummings was also on that field. Jimbo Fisher went to every Florida State Championship Game and got an opportunity to see Cocoa play first hand. After this he has offered 2011 prospect Chevelle Buie and Ronald Patrick.

As a FSU Fan and a Brevard county resident I am happy and proud FSU FINALLY recognized the great player that Ronald Patrick is and if anyone wants to get upset or mad that FSU offered to late then lets all get upset and mad at this list of schools that haven't stepped up to the plate yet on this kid:

Florida
Miami
LSU
Georgia
Clemson
Georgia Tech
UCF
USF

I know some of Ronald's relatives as I work with them out at the space center and I wish the kid the very best where ever he goes and if his relatives are any indication of what this kid is about then his future is bright. Good Luck Ronald where ever you go and this Nole fan will root for you even if you become a Gamecock. GO NOLES!
